Fumaric Acid FCC is used as a food additive to enhance flavor and sourness. It's used to enhance acidic flavor and improve the stability of pH in beverages and confectionary applications. In dressings, sauces, and soups it also lowers pH levels and improves acidity. It can even be used in industrial applications including printing inks, paper sizing, unsaturated polyester resins and alkyd resins. Its natural form is produced in the fumitory species of flower plants, bolete mushrooms, lichen, and Iceland moss.
