Sodium Bicarbonate USP Grade 5 also known as Baking Soda is manufactured and packaged by Church & Dwight in a bulk 50 pound bag. 

Sodium Bicarbonate, or Baking Soda, is an alkaline compound that produces carbon dioxide gas when combined with acid and causes batter to rise. It reacts with acids such as vinegar, lemon juice, buttermilk, yogurt, and cream of tartar. It is a leavening agent for baked goods such as pancakes, muffins, cakes, and fried foods. 

As an ingredient in personal care products, Sodium Bicarbonate is used in cosmetics to balance pH levels. Additionally it is used as and abrasive and odor controller in hair and skin care products. Sodium Bicarbonate is also a popular oral cleanser used in tooth paste. 

As an ingredient used in vitamin supplements, Sodium bicarbonate clears acid out of muscle cells, helping restore an optimal pH. This can decrease fatigue and increase performance. 

Specifications 

Ingredi Sodium Bicarbonate USP approved and does not come from any plant or animal origins and is allergen free. It is certified to be Halal and Kosher. 

Characteristics 

Sodium Bicarbonate USP Grade 5 is a white Coarse Granule that is stable in dry air but decomposes slowly in moist air. 1 g dissolves in 20 ml of water and resulting solution is clear. It has a slightly alkaline taste and is insoluble in alcohol. Baking Soda’s pH value at 1% in an aqueous solution at 77°F is 8.3.
