TECTYL 127CG GREY CALCIUM SULFONATE CORROSION PREVENTIVE UNDERCOATING

Tectyl 127CG Grey Undercoating is a solvent base gelled calcium sulfonate corrosion preventive compound cutback with minerals spirits. Providing extraordinary abrasion resistance, weathering/corrosion protection, and sound dampening for steel and wood industrial applications.

Tectyl 127CG Grey is a high quality, non-tacky, dry, and flexible wax-like film undercoating very similar to the more popular black wax undercoating but is used by certain trailer manufacturers that desire a grey/aluminum color.

This premium grey rust preventative compound ensures even and complete coverage of surfaces. As it is wax based, it creates a protective physical barrier when applied to prevent corrosive substances from interacting with vulnerable metal and wood substrates.

Product Uses

  • Grey-colored Abrasion Resistant Undercoating formulated for protection of municipal transportation equipment, truck beverage bodies, package delivery step vans, and original equipment manufacturers (OEM) fleet trailers.
  • Can be applied to both Metal and Wood surfaces.

Product Performance:

  • Firm wax-like film that will repel water, self-heal and retain flexibility at low temperatures.
  • Grey-colored film is easily identifiable during equipment inspections on both new and used surfaces.
  • A dielectric strength of 800 volts per mil of coating allows application between dissimilar metals preventing galvanic corrosion between the contacting metals.
  • When applied at the recommended wet film thickness (WFT) of 8-10 mils over a surface profile, it will deposit the recommended dry film thickness (DFT) of 4-5 mils.
  • Dry to touch in 4-6 hours and fully cured in 24 hours.
  • Covers 160 square ft. per gallon when applied at the recommended dry film thickness (DFT)
  • Can provide up to 3 years of protection on metal and wood substrates at the recommended dry film thickness (DFT).

Application Equipment Recommendations:

  • Pumps with ratios of 15:1 or greater are advised for efficient use of container content.
  • Tungsten Carbide Nozzles Tip in the spray gun is recommended. (.019" to .025" tip orifice size)
  • High Pressure Fluid Hose of no less than 3/8 in. diameters is suggested for less than 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose is required.
  • Low Ratio pumps (15-30:1): operate through 100 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 150 ft.
  • High Ratio pumps(>30:1): operate through 200 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 250 ft.
