Tectyl 400C Translucent Multi-Purpose Wax-based Corrosion Preventive Compound Approved under Ford Motor Company Specification M7C-16A/EST-M7C-16A for Ford Truck Division
Tectyl 400C is a premium corrosion preventive compound approved under Ford Motor Company Specification M7C-16A or EST-M7C-16A for the 6.7L Power Stroke V8 diesel engine used in Ford Truck Division to ensure it meets performance, durability, and emissions standards.
The M7C-16A specification encompasses the physical components of the engine while EST-M7C-16A covers the engine control system software, which includes the engine computer, sensors, and actuators.
Tectyl 400C is a multi-purpose, solvent base, corrosion inhibitor cutback with mineral spirits formulated to provide exceptional protection against the effect of moisture and corrosion on metal surfaces in long-term indoor or short-term outdoor exposure.
This premium wax-based corrosion inhibitor is designed to effectively protect industrial components, painted surfaces, and transportation equipment assemblies against corrosion during storage and domestic/international shipments.
Tectyl 400C will dry to a translucent, amber-colored, waxy, firm film coating that will not stain your silver/silver-plated metals. This thin protective film layer is only 25 microns, allowing for economical protection over a larger surface area.
Product Uses
- Premium, Translucent, Multi-Purpose Abrasion Resistant Film Coating designed for protecting industrial components, transportation equipment assemblies, and painted surfaces from the effects of moisture and corrosion during long-term indoor or short-term outdoor storage, as well as domestic and international shipments.
- Approved under Ford Motor Company Specification M7C-16A/EST-M7C-16A for Ford Truck Division, 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Diesel Engine.
- Protects engine blocks, crankshafts, pans, body dies, etc. during storage and shipment.
- Used by leaf spring manufacturers because it is easily applied via dip application, the film is highly resistant to salt corrosion, and provides lubrication between the spring leaves, reducing fretting corrosion.
- Outstanding corrosion protection in concrete pipe manufacturing for metal forms and forming rings.
- Can be used after vehicle assembly to protect inside doors, rocker panels, battery posts, cowling seams, behind chrome trim, molding, clips, and fasteners.
Product Performance:
- When applied at the recommended wet film thickness of 2-3 mils over the surface profile, it will deposit the recommended dry film thickness of 0.8 mils.
- Dry-to-touch in 1 hour and fully cured in 4-6 hours.
- Covers 761 square ft. per gallon when applied at the recommended film thickness.
- Can provide up to 1 year of outdoor protection and 3 years of indoor or undercover protection on metal substrates at the recommended film thickness.
Application Equipment Recommendations:
- Pumps with ratios of 15:1 or greater are advised for efficient use of container content.
- Tungsten Carbide Nozzles Tip in the spray gun is recommended. (.015" to .019" tip orifice size)
- High Pressure Fluid Hose of no less than 3/8 in. diameters is suggested for less than 50 ft. of material hose.
- Low Ratio pumps (15-30:1): operate through 100 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 150 ft.
- High Ratio pumps (>30:1): operate through 200 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 250 ft.
- Can be applied via brush, dip, or flow coat.
