Tectyl 435D Tan-Opaque, Non-Slick, 150°F Minimum Hot Application Wax Corrosion Preventive Compound QPL Approved MIL-C-11796C, Classes 1 and 1A
Tectyl 435D is a hot application corrosion preventive compound and is a Qualified Products Listed (QPL) for Govt. Designation MIL-C-11796C, Classes 1 and 1A, QPL Reference Numbers M-6179 and M-6172, respectively.
This specification covers a suitably formulated petrolatum-base, corrosion preventive compound with Class 1 specifying a ‘hard-film’ compound and Class 1A, a ‘non-slick, hard-film’ compound.
Tectyl 435D is a grease-type, 150°F minimum hot application, wax corrosion preventive compound that provides remarkable protection for both ferrous (iron-containing) and non-ferrous (no-iron) metals from corrosion in environments with high humidity or salt air, which is when salt particles are carried into the atmosphere by ocean waves and winds.
This high-quality, wax corrosion preventive when in its molten state (175F-200F) delivers enhanced adhesion, improved penetration for reaching hard-to-reach crevices on metal surfaces, and provides a firm film effective barrier against atmospheric corrosion.
Free of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), this premium hot application corrosion inhibitor compound presents a thin, tan, firm, and non-slick, wax-like film that will not oxidize when exposed to moisture or oxygen in the air.
Tectyl 435D will effectively combat corrosion providing durable and long-lasting protection that keeps your equipment in optimal condition, even in the most harsh and challenging environments.
Product Uses
- Tan-Colored and Opaque, 150°F-200°F Hot Application, Corrosion Preventive Compound protects ferrous/non-ferrous (iron-containing/no-iron) metals for highly machined or polished parts from corrosion in the presence of high temperature environments and atmospheric corrosive conditions.
- Formulated to fulfill the requirements of Qualified Products Listed (QPL) for Govt. designation MIL-C-11796C, Class 1 and Class 1A, QPL Reference Numbers M-6179 and M-6172, respectively.
- Formulated with ZERO Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) for minimal environmental impact.
- Wax-Like film will not oxidize.
- Can provide protection of packaged/unpackaged small metal parts, long-term indoor storage protection of highly finished surfaces, and unshielded outdoor storage of gun tubes, etc.
- Protects ballast tanks and void spaces by the military on Naval Shapes and submarines.
- Protects and lubricates wire rope used in the marine, mining, logging, oil, oil, gas, and ski lift industries.
- Excellent for lubricating stranding wires at a strander in the fabrication of wire rope and cable . Product is heated to 175F-200F and pumped over stranding wires just prior to entering the forming die on the strander.
- Can be applied for the protection of elevator and suspension bridge cables.
Product Performance:
- When applied at the recommended wet film thickness of 1-2 mils over the surface profile, it will deposit the recommended dry film thickness of 1.5 mils.
- Covers 145 square ft. per pound (lbs.) when applied at the recommended film thickness.
- Can provide up to 6 months of outdoor and 1 year of undercover protection on metal substrates at the recommended dry film thickness (DFT).
- Can increase protection period to 1 year of outdoor or 10 years of indoor protection at 50 mils.
- High Temperature Flow Point with a minimum of 150°F and a Melting Point of 175°F.
- Dip Application 200°F maximum.
Application Equipment Recommendations:
- Pumps with ratios of 30:1 or greater are advised for efficient use of container content.
- Tungsten Carbide Nozzles Tip in the spray gun is recommended. (.019" to .023" tip orifice size)
- High Pressure Fluid Hose of no less than 3/8 in. diameters is suggested for less than 50 ft. of material hose.
- Low Ratio pumps (30:1): operate through 100 ft. of 1/2 inch & 50 ft. of 3/8 inch hose for a max of 150 ft.
- High Ratio pumps(>30:1): operate through 200 ft. of 1/2 inch & 50 ft. of 3/8 inch hose for a max of 250 ft.
- Can be applied in the hot molten/liquid state by hot airless spray or dip.
- Can be applied at warm, ambient temperatures by brush or swab.
