Tectyl 1422S Black, High Solids, High Gloss, Single-Application, Direct-To-Metal & Quick-Drying Solvent-Based Corrosion Preventive Coating

Tectyl 1422S is a premium black, solvent-based, direct-to-metal, high solids corrosion preventive paint that delivers a thick and powerful barrier that effectively protects ferrous (iron-containing)/non-ferrous (no-iron) fabrications and industrial components against corrosive environments.
This high-quality industrial corrosion inhibitor is designed to provide exceptional protection for trailer sub-frames and transportation industry parts, extending its versatility to being a suitable rust preventive for intermodal chassis/containers, farm, and construction equipment.

Tectyl 1422S is a high solids corrosion preventive, which means it is formulated with a high concentration of non-volatile components which presents itself as a substantially durable protective coating with increased coverage on the applied surface providing overall enhanced corrosion protection.
This economical rust preventive grants simplified application, working efficiently as a direct-to-metal, single-application coating, preventing the need for multiple coats or a primer to save you both money and time.

Tectyl 1422S is a quick-drying coating that cures to become a hard and durable, yet flexible, high gloss barrier supplying excellent resistance to corrosive contaminants and environments for a wide range of industries and applications.
This high-performing solvent-based corrosion preventive offers a comprehensive and cost-effective solution for effectively protecting your vulnerable metallic surfaces and extending overall service-life of your structural machinery.

Product Uses:

  • Black, Hard, but Flexible Solvent-Based Single-Application Corrosion Preventive Coating designed to provide a thick and durable barrier that protects ferrous/non-ferrous fabrications and industrial components from harmful corrosive environments.
  • An industrial coating suitable for intermodal chassis/containers, rail cars, road, farm, and construction equipment.
  • Direct-to-metal black solvent base coating for trailer frames and industrial parts and components.
  • Single-Application Corrosion Preventive with increased adhesiveness allows adequate protection with just a single coat (eliminating the need for a primer).
  • High Solid formulation provides increased coverage and a reduced environmental impact, requiring much less product to appropriately coat the surface while releasing fewer VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) during solvent evaporation.

Product Performance:

  • When applied at the recommended wet film thickness (WFT) of 5-6 mils over the surface profile, it will deposit the recommended dry film thickness (DFT) of 2.5-3.0 mils over the surface profile.
  • Dry to touch in 10 minutes, safe to be handled in 1 hour, and can be exposed to the weather in 2 hours.
  • With a gloss value of 75/34 @ 60°/20° indicates that the cured corrosion preventive film will result in a high gloss finish.
  • Covers 292 square ft. per gallon when applied at the recommended dry film thickness (DFT)
  • Can provide up to 5 years of outdoor protection and 5+ years of indoor or undercover protection on metal and wood substrates at the recommended dry film thickness (DFT).

Application Equipment Recommendations:

  • Pumps with ratios of 23:1 or greater are advised for efficient use of container content.
  • Tungsten Carbide Nozzles Tip in the spray gun is recommended. (.013" to .019" tip orifice size)
  • High Pressure Fluid Hose of no less than 3/8 in. diameters is suggested for less than 50 ft. of material hose.
  • Low Ratio pumps (23-30:1): operate through 100 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 150 ft.
  • High Ratio pumps(>40:1): operate through 200 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 250 ft.
  • A Fluid Pressure of 1800-2400 lbs. is required.
