Tectyl 1431 Black, High Solids & High Gloss, Solvent-Based Corrosion Preventive Coating Formulated with Low VOCs and Completely Free of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs Free)
Tectyl 1431 is a black solvent-based, high solids, corrosion preventive hard shell coating delivering a durable barrier that effectively protects ferrous (iron-containing)/non-ferrous (no-iron) fabrications and industrial components against corrosive environments.
This rapid-drying corrosion preventive coating greatly improves production line efficiencies by drying to the touch completely within 10-15 minutes, being safe to handle just one hour after application, and efficiently enduring weather exposure within 2.5 hours.
Tectyl 1431 is a high solids corrosion preventive, meaning it is formulated with a high concentration of non-volatile components, so a substantially durable protective coating is left behind on the applied surface after the solvent evaporates for enhanced corrosion prevention.
This environmentally conscious rust preventive grants simplified application, working efficiently as a direct-to-metal coating that cures to become a hard, yet flexible, black film coating that is both impact and abrasion resistant, supplying excellent resistance to corrosive contaminants and environments within a wide range of industry applications.
This premium industrial corrosion preventive is designed to provide excellent protection for trailer sub-frames and transportation industry parts and, extending its versatility further, is also a suitable rust preventive for intermodal chassis/containers, farm, and construction equipment.
Tectyl 1431 offers a prime solution for effectively preserving the quality of your vulnerable metallic surfaces and increasing the overall service-life of your structural machinery.
Product Uses:
- Black, Hard, but Flexible, Solvent-Based Single-Application Corrosion Preventive Coating designed to provide a thick and durable barrier that protects ferrous/non-ferrous fabrications and industrial components from harmful corrosive environments.
- An industrial coating suitable for intermodal chassis/containers, rail cars, road, farm, and construction equipment.
- Direct-to-metal, black solvent-based coating for trailer frames and industrial parts and components.
- Single-Application Corrosion Preventive with increased adhesiveness allows adequate protection with just a single coat (eliminating the need for a primer).
- High Solid formulation provides increased coverage and a reduced environmental impact, requiring much less product to appropriately coat the surface while releasing fewer VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) during solvent evaporation.
- Completely free of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs Free) and formulated with a lower Volatile Organic Compounds/Content (VOCs) of 2.8 lbs. per gallon.
- High 90% Gloss using a 60° Gloss Meter.
Product Performance:
- When applied at the recommended wet film thickness (WFT) of 3-6 mils over the surface profile using a 60° Gloss Meter, it will deposit the recommended dry film thickness (DFT) of 1.5-3.0 mils over the surface profile.
- Dry to touch in 15 minutes, safe to be handled within 1 hour, and can be exposed to the weather in 2.5 hours.
- Covers 292 square ft. per gallon when applied at the recommended dry film thickness (DFT)
- Can provide up to 5 years of outdoor protection and 5+ years of indoor or undercover protection on metal and wood substrates at the recommended dry film thickness (DFT).
Application Equipment Recommendations:
- Pumps with ratios of 23:1 or greater are advised for efficient use of container content.
- Tungsten Carbide Nozzles Tip in the spray gun is recommended. (.015" to .021" tip orifice size)
- High Pressure Fluid Hose of no less than 3/8 in. diameters is suggested for less than 50 ft. of material hose.
- Low Ratio pumps (23-30:1): operate through 100 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 150 ft.
- High Ratio pumps(>40:1): operate through 200 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 250 ft.
- A Fluid Pressure of 1800-2400 lbs. is required.
