Tectyl 861 SGD Steel Mill Slushing Compound and Corrosion Preventive Compound

Tectyl 861 SGD is a high-quality, solvent based, corrosion preventive compound formulated for use as a steel mill ‘slushing compound’ or vanishing oil for ferrous (iron-containing) and non-ferrous (no-iron) metal substrates.

Tectyl 861 SGD is a corrosion inhibiting compound designed primarily to protect galvanized steel tubing, sheets, and coils from degradation during transit and storage.
This premium solvent based rust preventive contains a mixture of oil and wax additives that deliver considerable lubrication, film durability, and improves its overall resistance to water and moisture-related contaminants penetrating the protected steel surface.

Easy to apply, Tectyl 861 SGD will cure to form a very thin, transparent, and slightly oily protective film that is essentially invisible and does not obscure the surface of the steel.
Tectyl 861 SGD is an excellent option for an easy to use steel mill slushing compound and corrosion preventive to keep your prized steel products safe from rust and corrosion during transit and storage.

  • Delivers quality rust protection and lubrication for galvanized tubing, steel tubing, sheets, and coils during transit and storage.
  • Cures to form a non-discernible light oily coating that provides powerful rust protection for metal parts without a noticeable film.
  • Daubert Chemical Company recommends that the metal substrate temperature be between 20°F to 95°F (-6.7°C - 35°C) at time of product application.
  • NOT recommended for outdoor protection.

Product Performance:

  • When applied at the recommended wet film thickness of 0.7 mils over the surface profile, it will deposit the recommended dry film thickness of 0.06 mils.
  • Covers 2,520 square ft. per gallon when applied at the recommended film thickness.
  • Can provide up to 6 months of indoor protection on metal substrates at the recommended dry film thickness.

Application Equipment Recommendations:

  • Pumps with ratios of 15:1 or greater are advised for efficient use of container content.
  • Tungsten Carbide Nozzles Tip in the spray gun is recommended. (.007" to .009" tip orifice size)
  • High Pressure Fluid Hose of no less than 3/8 in. diameters is suggested for less than 50 ft. of material hose.
  • Low Ratio pumps (15-30:1): operate through 100 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 150 ft.
  • High Ratio pumps(>30:1): operate through 200 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 250 ft.
