NOX-RUST 576-055 Water-Based, Chip & Heat Resistant Clear Acrylic Enamel Engine Paint that Meets and Passes all requirements of General Motors (GM) Specification 998-4190

NOX-RUST 576-055 is a clear acrylic enamel engine paint that is specially designed to protect finished/unfinished metal or automotive parts against the damaging effects of acid, solid particle fallout, and other environmental contaminants while leaving an attractive and glossy finish.
This powerful water-based engine paint meets and passes all the strict performance requirements of General Motors Specification 998-4190, after intensive and thorough testing, ensuring compatibility with GM engines.

NOX-RUST 576-055 dries quickly and is excellent for use on both aluminum and galvanized surfaces, preventing corrosion from dissimilar metal contact.
Boasting maximized heat resistance, this engine paint’s quick-drying, tack free, and chip-resistant finished coat forms a firm, transparent, and protective layer that effectively shields vulnerable surfaces during transit, storage, and against dust and dirt accumulation.

NOX-RUST 576-055 premium engine paint is approved under General Motors Specification 998-4190, having been rigorously assessed to ensure that this product meets their demanding performance requirements and quality standards.
NOX-RUST 576-055  is formulated to defend and safeguard your valuable engine components in even the harshest of conditions, contributing to equipment longevity and overall quality over a longer period.

Product Uses:

  • The NOX-RUST 576-055 clear acrylic enamel is formulated to meet and pass the requirements of GM Specification 998-4190 for a water-based clear corrosion preventive compound for application under the hood (engine).
  • As an engine paint, it is formulated for maximum heat resistance, efficiently performing in temperatures up to 250 °F. Resisting sagging and loss of adhesion.
  • Dry, tack free coating that prevents dust and dirt pick up during domestic and overseas transit and storage.
  • NOX-RUST 576-055 will protect finished and unfinished metal against the damaging effects of acid and solid particle fallout during transit.
  • Excellent preservative for the protection of finished and unfinished automotive parts in storage.
  • Effective corrosion preventive for aluminum and galvanized surfaces.
  • Eliminates water spotting caused by acidic rain or hard water.
  • Free of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPS Free) and formulated with a low Volatile Organic Compounds/Content (VOC) of 1.12 lbs./gal.
  • DO NOT FREEZE!

Product Performance:

  • When applied at the recommended wet film thickness of 6-7 mils over the surface profile, it will deposit the recommended dry film thickness (DFT) of 1.4 mils.
  • Can provide up to 1-2 years of outdoor protection, and 3+ years of indoor storage protection on metal substrates at the recommended dry film thickness (DFT).

Application Equipment Recommendations: 

  • Can be spray, dip or flow-coat applied.
  • Pumps with ratios of 15:1 or greater are advised for efficient use of container content.
  • Tungsten Carbide Nozzles Tip in the spray gun is recommended. (.013" to .017" tip orifice size)
  • High Pressure Fluid Hose of no less than 3/8 in. diameters is suggested for less than 50 ft. of material hose.
  • Low Ratio pumps (15-30:1): operate through 100 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 150 ft.
  • High Ratio pumps(>30:1): operate through 200 ft. of 1/2 in & 50 ft. of 3/8 in. hose for a max of 250 ft.
